Corduroy Sling Bag
Well, this is kinda embarrassing. The draft for this post was dated June 2. Yikes, it’s been a minute. I made this crossbody bag wayyyyyy back in April. I followed the Sandhill Sling pattern by Noodlehead, which someone had gotten me as a high school grad gift. I loved having the paper patten to follow. There’s just something about the neat and tidy little booklet all printed and ready to go. I thoroughly enjoyed organizing the many pattern pieces and attaching them to the cutting instruction cards, as you can tell from the picture below.
The pattern was excellently written and easy to follow. This corduroy is from The Gathering Place in Idaho that I bought specifically for this pattern last Spring, in 2024.
My favorite thing about making this bag was the beautiful small details. I purchased really pretty hardware - and actually the right pieces the pattern called for! I almost always cheap out and make do with what I have but the impact of nice hardware is huge! I bought nice study 100% cotton webbing, and it all comes together to make the bag feel high-quality and durable.
This label on the inside was also a high school gift, and I’ve been looking for ways to use them! I love the contrasting blanket stitch, it makes me smile every time I open the bag to see this cute little pouch.
Overall, I really loved how the bag turned out. It’s great to have a larger purse with more room for a water bottle inside. And I love the outdoorsy vibe the corduroy gives. I use it all the time! Sewing a Noodlehead pattern was a delight, and I would gladly sew more of her lovely bag patterns. ‘Till next time, thanks for reading!
